OK, next time, I'm hiring professional movers. After about a month of constantly loading, driving, and unloading a borrowed van, all of our stuff is finally at the house. Next comes the organizing, but I don't even want to think about that right now.

I noted a bunch of stuff to blog in the last couple of weeks, but it's all old now. Maybe later.

Don't even THINK about pro movers. They're all thieves and con artists. I hired a "professional" mover, they quoted me $1200 flat rate. When the goods arrived, suddenly they want a check for $2500 or they haul away my stuff and auction it. I wrote them a check for $2500 and they unloaded. Then I went straight to the bank and stopped payment on the check. I offered to pay the original quoted price, the mover refused. We fought in court and they lost, I paid the $1200.
During the case, I talked to the State Attorney General about the problem, he surprised me, he said "yeah, moving fraud is one of our top complaints, and big money too. So we got a new law passed to crack down on rogue movers."
Don't do it. There are far more fraudulent movers than honest ones, your chances of losing everything you own are higher than you know.

I used Careful Movers for my local move. I highly recommend them.

Next time, give me a few more weeks to work out and develop my piano-lifting muscles.

Actually, re: next time. Don't move ever again. That's one comfortable couch.
