Cameron Mackintosh Ltd. is replacing half of the Les Miserables orchestra with a computer in the London production when it moves to a smaller theater. Inevitable, end of the world, and so forth. Let's just hope we can tell the difference, so we can ultimately win the war against the machines.

I remember how disappointed I was that the "live" shows at Disney World and Epcot Center (in the early 80s) were completely lip-synched and had a taped orchestra. the people on the stage were actually dancing, at least. Oddly, they had a guy who pretended to be a conductor sticking his hands out of the pit and taking a bow at the end!
