Call me crazy, but I've always wanted an Open Source equivalent to MS Access, to quickly assemble searchable databases with simple form-based interfaces. I'm sure there have been others for a while, but it was great to hear about Rekall, and I look forward to playing with it.

I believe Gnumeric is a spreadsheet, not a database.
Ya, Gnumeric is equivalent to Excel. It's good, too, as much as I've used it, anyway.
MS Access lets you quickly whip up small database applications with form-based front-ends as well as web access. I'm enamoured with the idea, though in practice I'd probably continue to use web-only interfaces and Perl DBI for that sort of thing...
