Telephone Exchanges, Gone But Not Forgotten. This weird blog-like story from AARP has a few neat links about telephones and area codes. What jumped out at me was the mention that WhitePages.com and 555-1212.com both have reverse lookup functionality, even including partial phone number searches. I guess I always figured that power was considered too invasive to put into public hands, but I never really had a good explanation for that assumption.
